FAQs

Do I need any prior experience to join a beginner course?
The full three day The Signature Series course is designed for complete beginners - no prior experience is needed. I’ll guide you step by step through every technique, from gel polish to builder gel and nail art foundations. If you’d like to book Day 2 and/or Day 3 as a standalone course, you’ll need to already hold a relevant accredited gel polish qualification.
Can I book individual days only, or do I need to commit to the full three-day course?
You can book each day as a standalone course, or take all three together as The Signature Series. Each day is fully accredited, so you can train at your own pace and build your skills in a way that works for you. If you’d like to book Day 2 and/or Day 3 as a standalone, you’ll need to already hold a relevant accredited gel polish qualification.
Are the courses accredited and insurable?
Yes! All courses are ABT-accredited and fully insurable, meaning you’ll leave with recognised qualifications and the confidence to start working professionally.
How many students are in each session?
I keep my groups intentionally small (1:1 or 2:1) so that you get plenty of personal guidance, time to ask questions, and hands-on practice. -
How do I book a course?
You can either fill out the short contact form on my website, email me at gelbymegan@gmail.com, or send me a DM on Instagram @gel.bymegan. Once I know your preferred course and dates, I’ll reply promptly with availability and all the booking details. Students must be 16 or older to attend any training. If you’d like to book Day 2 and/or Day 3 as a standalone course, you’ll need to already hold a relevant accredited gel polish qualification. To book a 1:1 mentoring session, you’ll need to provide evidence of all relevant qualifications - for example, a builder gel certificate if you’d like to focus on builder gel techniques.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
To secure your place, a non-refundable deposit is required (details will be provided at booking). The remaining balance is due 14 days before your course date. Full details can be found on my policies page.
What happens if I can’t attend?
I completely understand that life doesn’t always go to plan. My full cancellation and rescheduling policy is outlined on my policies page, so you’ll know your options if something changes. -
What will I learn on each day?
The Signature Series is a 3-day accredited course designed to take you from beginner to a confident, career-ready nail artist. For a detailed breakdown of each day, please visit my full course overview page.
Do I get a course manual?
Yes! Every student receives a beautifully designed manual for each course day, packed with clear information, step-by-step guides, and troubleshooting tips to support you during and after your training.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes! You’ll receive a fully accredited ABT certificate on completion of each course, perfect for displaying proudly and for gaining insurance. If you have completed bespoke 1:1 mentoring with me, you’ll receive a certificate of attendance. Full attendance is required to achieve certification. Certificates are awarded based on competence in all course elements, and as your educator, I will do my utmost to support you and guide you through every step to help you successfully complete the course.
Health & learning needs:
If you have any medical conditions, allergies, or learning needs, please let me know before your course. This helps me make sure your training is comfortable, safe, and enjoyable from start to finish. -
Who can book?
These sessions are for qualified nail artists and don’t include a qualification - but focused, personalised guidance from me. Students must be 16 or older to attend any training. To book a 1:1 mentoring session, you’ll need to provide evidence of all relevant qualifications - for example, a builder gel certificate if you’d like to focus on builder gel techniques.
What can I focus on?
Whatever you need! Nail prep & application, builder gel structure, nail art, troubleshooting, or even tips for photography, social media, and building your confidence online. I’ll share everything I know - no gatekeeping! My 1:1 sessions are designed to be completely personalised - which means I want to make sure they’re the right fit for you. When enquiring, please include details of the specific areas or skills you’d like to focus on. This helps me ensure I have the right expertise to support you*, and allows us to make the very best use of our time together.
*Please note, I am predominantly a short/natural nail manicurist and while I work with builder gel daily, I don't often have a need to use hard gel. Please also note that I am a manual prep manicurist and I do not use an e-file for this part of my service.
I previously qualified but I haven’t worked in the industry and I’m a bit unsure now, can I attend a 1:1 to refresh myself?
This sounds perfect! These sessions are a great way to reconnect with current techniques, trends, and products, and feel fully confident again. Full information can be found on my 1:1 mentoring page. -
Where are the courses held?
All learning takes place in my private studio in central Rugby, Warwickshire (UK), set within a beautiful character-filled property. The building is shared with a small community of health and wellbeing professionals, creating a calm, professional atmosphere perfect for focused learning. Please note: The studio is upstairs and accessed via stairs only. Bathroom facilities are available on-site.
Do I need to bring a model?
For practical sessions, you’ll work on yourself or another student. Models are generally not required unless stated for certain advanced exercises (particularly during bespoke 1:1 mentoring). I’ll advise you ahead of time if a model would be useful for your course day.
What should I bring with me?
Just yourself, a pen and a notebook! All tools, products, and equipment are provided for your course. Light refreshments will be available, but please feel free to bring your own drinks, snacks and lunch.
Can I take photos during training?
Absolutely! I encourage you to document your learning journey. If you share your work on social media, I’d love you to tag me so that I can see it (@gel.bymegan) - I love seeing your progress and celebrating your creations. During your session, I may capture some photos or videos for my own social channels. If you’d prefer not to be included, just let me know!
Is there a dress code or safety guidelines?
Comfortable, clean clothing is perfect - I love seeing your personal style! Closed-toe shoes are recommended for practical work, as we’ll be using sharp tools, so you can stay safe while getting creative. I also recommend that you bring a hair tie with you, so that you can tie your hair back during your practical learning.
What happens if I’m running late?
Courses are small and personalised, so being on time really helps us make the most of your session. If you know you’ll be late, just let me know in advance so we can adjust the plan. Arriving late may reduce your hands-on practice time, and in some cases, we might not be able to cover everything needed for your certificate. If that happens, a follow-up session can be arranged (additional costs may apply) so you can complete the training fully.
Will my work be used in Gel by Megan marketing?
I’d love to celebrate your achievements! With your permission, I may share photos of our time in the studio together, as well as your work once you’re qualified, on social media or website galleries. You’ll always be credited, and I’ll never post anything without your consent.
Is there a minimum age or eligibility requirement for attendance?
Students must be 16 or older to attend any training. If you’d like to book Day 2 and/or Day 3 as a standalone course, you’ll need to already hold a relevant accredited gel polish qualification. To book a 1:1 mentoring session, you’ll need to provide evidence of all relevant qualifications - for example, a builder gel certificate if you’d like to focus on builder gel techniques.
How long does post-course support last?
After your course, I’m here to answer questions and provide ongoing guidance. Support is offered via email or direct messaging for follow-up questions and photo reviews, giving you confidence as you continue practicing and building your skills.
